Chronicle is a desktop application for creative professionals. It watches folders the user selects and records a new version when a supported creative file changes. Chronicle then helps the user understand, search, and restore that history without changing how they save files in their existing creative tools.

Why Chronicle uses Google Sign-In
Google Sign-In is optional. Chronicle requests only the openid, email, and profile scopes. These provide a stable Google account identifier, verified email address, given name, and family name.
Chronicle uses this information only to authenticate the user, create or identify their Chronicle account, maintain a secure Chronicle session, and provide account-backed features. Those features include portable preference sync and a separately enabled encrypted provider-key backup. Users can use Chronicle's core local versioning features without Google Sign-In.

Chronicle does not sell Google user data or use it for advertising. Authentication takes place in the user's system browser, and Chronicle does not store Google access tokens or Google refresh tokens. Full handling details are provided in the Privacy Policy.
Local files and optional online features
The creative version library, watched-folder paths, thumbnails, local database, annotations, and keyword index stay on the user's device. Chronicle does not provide cloud storage for the creative version library.
AI summaries and semantic search are optional. When configured, Chronicle sends only the inputs needed for the selected task to the AI provider chosen by the user. Account and sync features are separate from the local creative workflow.
